This store is amazing. First visit was yesterday and I love it. The selection is unbeatable. The staff were super helpful. I have a smaller tank and was going to add a few more fish. The lady there gave me great advice on what to hold off on for my next tank and a few things I could add into the one I have now for clean up. I could have spent another hour or more in there checking out the selection. (For others not in Harrisonburg, they are so worth the drive to them!!!) I will be back!

Critter Cove is the best!! Staff is super knowledgeable and always incredibly helpful, even when they’re busy and my husband and I come in with 1,000 questions! Jeff and Skylar know their stuff and have helped us out in setting up new tanks, and problem solving issues that arise with our established tanks. Their selection is unmatched, always well stocked with unique fish and decor. The cricket club is a great deal for anyone with a cricket loving critter. The store is always clean and organized. Best and most well stocked critter store I’ve ever visited!

Critter Cove is the absolute best place to get your new pet! All of the critters are ethically sourced and living happily in bio-appropriate conditions. The staff are incredibly friendly and the owner is extremely knowledgeable! We drove 2.5 hours to see the available critters and it was completely worth it. Would absolutely recommend!

It doesn't explicitly say they carry hermit crab supplies but many of their inventory applies to hermit crab needs as well and I found the owner and staff friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, and resourceful as they talked me through different aspects. Plus, my 4 year old loved looking around at all the aquariums and habitats that were at his level to peruse while I shopped. Loved my first experience there and can't wait to go back!

This store is clean, well stocked, and obviously run with passion. When talking to the woman responsible for this great shop, she said something that really stood out to me. She wants to run an ethical pet store. Her focus is on proper husbandry from enclosures to nutrition. Even though Critter Cove is over 4 hours away, I truly look forward to the next time I'm able to stop in.

The reviews were accurate. We stopped by this little gem on the way home from a trip. They have fish that I am not able to find where we live (shrimp, loaches, unique plants, and even the long finned tetras, panda corys) Everyone made the trip home safely and even after a water change and some plant re-arrangements are still thriving. I felt like I spent less money and got more fish than usual for the price compared to where I live. I wish they were closer. They were also very helpful on educating regarding environments and best types of food. I had no idea freeze dried food can expand in the fish's stomachs and got some frozen food which everyone is loving in the tank. They also had some cool lizards and store parrot. Great spot. I hope they are very successful, the pets all looked very healthy and had good living conditions.

What an incredible pet store! The staff is so knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. They took the time to educate and guide me through caring for my corn snake. Very reasonable prices and stocked with items that are hard to find even online. Highly recommend Critter Cove!

This place is incredible. The animals are truly healthy and cared for and the selection of supplies are diverse and quality. What sets this store apart is the customer service. Skylar is a wealth of knowledge. You can sense her vast knowledge, passion, and love for these animals. My young daughter and I learned so much, and were excited about this new hobby we are starting together. Kara and (forgive me, I forget the man whose passion is the fish) were very helpful, kind, and knowledgeable as well. We laughed and learned and the experience was unmatched by any other local pet store in our area. Our new leopard gecko is beautiful, and very sweet. You can tell she has been loved by Critter Cove and didn’t seem stressed or aggressive in anyway. We are looking forward to coming back. Thank you Critter Cove for the rewarding experience. You are an incredible team!

The best pet store in Harrisonburg. Everyone was knowledgeable and friendly. The store was clean and most importantly the animals and fish were well taken care of. They even carried what I bought to my truck so I could pick my son up to leave. Kara answered every aquatic plant question I had and some and helped be build the planted aquarium I've always wanted. I will be returning to pick up some fish when my tank is ready.
